CapFigure is proud to announce the establishment of a new contributor page. Long-time friend & die-hard MLB fanatic “JD” will be posting his picks based on Vegas odds for MLB games throughout the season. Without further ado, here are JD’s thoughts for today:
Milwaukee Brewers (NL) at Philadelphia Phillies (NL)
7:05 PM (EST) – Citizens Bank Park
Probable Starters
J. Eickhoff (2-7 W/L – 4.07 ERA – 1.23 WHIP – 50/12 K-to-BB)
C. Anderson (2-6 W/L – 5.00 ERA – 1.35 WHIP – 42/16 K-to-BB)
JD’s Pick & Methodology
Today I am liking the Phillies, whose line has gotten more favorable overnight, moving from -130 to -110. J. Eickhoff has found a decent rhythm in his last start, holding the dangerous Cubs’ lineup to only 4 earned runs. Recording 7 strikeouts against a deep and disciplined Cubs lineup tells me his “stuff” is moving well, deceptive; and I look for that to continue against a much less intimidating Brewers’ lineup.
The Brewers are traveling, and today is Milwaukee’s 10th straight day with a game. Meanwhile the Phillies get to sleep in their beds tonight and will be glad to be playing anyone but the Cubs or Nationals. Look for Eickhoff to miss a lot of bats and with the Brewers lack of depth, in terms of power bats, beyond Ryan Braun and Chris Carter; I feel they will struggle to string together multiple hits to push across enough runs.
