JD’s Pick & Methodology
Today I like the St. Louis Cardinals. Crafty left-hander Jaime Garcia should be able to stifle the big bats in Cincinnati’s lineup today. With the Reds’ two biggest bats, Jay Bruce and Joey Votto, being left-handed, it will make generating offense and in turn runs more difficult for them. Garcia is a pitcher and not just a thrower, meaning the outcome of his starts tend to be much less volatile than a lot of the more power-oriented pitchers.
As far as the Cardinals’ offense is concerned, the Birds are set to face Reds’ Starting Pitcher Alfredo Simon, who is currently sporting an 8.94 ERA over 47.1 innings pitched. I look for the Cardinals to even the series tonight with a victory.
Currently the moneyline for the Cardinals sits at a pricey (-175), though this is a pick that I feel supremely confident about. A $30.00 dollar bet yields $17.14 in potential profit.
