Had you followed my picks all the way through, you would be $57.61 richer (5.45% return on equity) than you were nine days ago.   Anyhow for my pick today let’s go to the one and only Yankee Stadium, for a star-studded Saturday night match-up of high-profile starters.  The suddenly surging New York Yankees will send the $165 million right arm of Masahiro Tanaka out to compete against the Detroit Tigers’ Justin Verlander ($202 million total contract).  Continue reading “JD’s Vegas MLB Picks (June 11th)”

Looking through the current odds on today’s MLB action, the line for the New York Mets jumped off the screen and slapped me in the face.  Profitable wagering is all about managing the risk, comparable to the potential reward; I love the value I am getting with the moneyline for the Mets (currently at -119) tonight against a paltry, at best, opponent in the Milwaukee Brewers.  Continue reading “JD’s Vegas MLB Picks (June 10th)”

Today I like the St. Louis Cardinals.  Crafty left-hander Jaime Garcia should be able to stifle the big bats in Cincinnati’s lineup today.  With the Reds’ two biggest bats, Jay Bruce and Joey Votto, being left-handed, it will make generating offense and in turn runs more difficult for them.  Garcia is a pitcher and not just a thrower, meaning the outcome of his starts tend to be much less volatile than a lot of the more power-oriented pitchers. Today I’m taking the New York Yankees at home in the Bronx, against the floundering Los Angeles Angels.  I’m taking the run line (-1.5 at +135), which means the Yankees must win by two or more runs for this wager to payoff.

I like the fact that the two lefties at the top of the Yankees’ lineup, Jacoby Ellsbury & Brett Gardner, are seeing the ball well and putting it in play, which in turn allows them to be more aggressive on the base paths.  The Yankees obviously have a stellar bullpen and with Tanaka on the mound it sets up well for the Yankees, provided the Yankees can put some runs on the board.  I like the Yankees to tack on some late runs and win the game by a score of 6-2, or somewhere in that neighborhood.  I like Tanaka to neutralize the Angels’ biggest threats, Mike Trout & Albert Pujols (both right-handed batters).  Tanaka and his splitter make for an uncomfortable time at the plate for right-handed batters.  I feel really good about this pick.  Let’s see what happens.

I’m off the schnide.  Today’s pick will be a parlay to increase payout and reduce the juice (VIG).  For the newbs, a parlay is a cumulative series of bets in which multiple events must be won to win the parlay; with the higher risk comes a considerable jump in potential payout.
